Action
Use the menu to enter work and leave time, to enter expense information, and to view active time and expense entries. The time entry page you see displayed under the Actions menu in the EWS is based on the time entry page defined for your employee ID in the HR Management module and on EWS system settings.
Typically, you will see one of the following time entry pages:
- Hourly Time Entry page. This page allows employees to manually enter their work time into a timesheet, including the time they clocked in for the day, the time they went to lunch, the time they returned from lunch, and the time they clocked out for the day. It also allows them to specify cost centers and wage codes for hours worked. Based on the clock in and clock out times employees specify, EWS automatically calculates the number of hours the employee worked for the day.
- Clock In/Out Time Entry page. This page provides punch clock entry for employees. When employees click theClock In, Lunch, Return, and Clock Out buttons, the system automatically records the time and calculates the number of hours employees worked. It also allows them to specify cost centers and wage codes for hours worked.
- Exempt Time Entry page. This page allows employees to specify the number of hours worked for a day and a cost center and wage code for their hours. Employees do not have to specify their clock in or clock out times with this page.
You may also see the following pages, based on the system settings configured for your installation:
- Leave Entry page. This page allows employees to enter their leave time, such as vacation time or sick days.
- Expense Entry page. This page allows employees to enter expense information, including hotel, meal, and mileage expenses.
- View Timesheets and Expenses page. This page allows employees to view their active time and expense entries. An active time entry is a time entry that has not yet been processed by the HR Management module and Payroll module. An active expense entry is an expense entry that has not yet been processed by the HR Management module and Payroll module. Once time and expense entries are processed, they no longer display on the View Timesheets and Expenses page.

Tip: If your company has customized its EWS installation and created new time entry pages, see your manager, your supervisor, or a Human Resource staff member for more information on how to use the customized time entry pages.
